Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthey Perry and David Schwimmer played in this situation comedy six young people living in New York.
From its debut season (1994-95), the series was nominated for 27 Emmy Awards, including 4 awards for Outstanding Comedy Series. The cast members won the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 1996 in comedy series nomination and were nominated three times (in 1996, 1997, and 1998) for the Golden Globe Award for the best TV series, soundtrack and comedy. Friends won People’s Choice Award as the Favorite New Comedy Series in its first season, and won the Favorite Comedy Series award more than twice.
The Series tells the story of friendship of three men and three women that often come to visit one another or gather together on the sofa at the Central Perk cafe. Monica (Courteney Cox) is a chef obsessed with the idea of accuracy and order in life. She lives next door to a guy called Chandler (Perry), famous for his sense of humor. Chandler shares his apartment for a while with Joey (LeBlanc), a struggling actor, who loves New York, sports and women. Monica is staying with Rachel (Aniston), her best friend since high school who had run away from her own wedding. Rachel works as a waitress, trying to make ends meet without the assistance of her rich father. Ross (Schwimmer) is Monica’s unhappy brother who is in love with Rachel since school. Ross is a paleontologist working at a museum. One more friend is Monica’s ex-neighbor, Phoebe Buffay (Kudrow), a faint-hearted but ever optimistic amateur singer and masseuse.
At the start of its seventh season, Friends are still at the top of the rating of Must See on TV on NBC channel. The series goes on as Number One Comedy and remains the most popular of after-8 pm timeslot screenings.
